Solution

If aa is the portion of the work done per day by Anna, bb by Ben and cc by Cleo, then b+c=14b + c = \dfrac{1}{4}, a+b=12a + b = \dfrac{1}{2}, a+c=13a + c = \dfrac{1}{3}, hence a+b+c=1324a + b + c = \dfrac{13}{24}. Thus 1124\dfrac{11}{24} of the work has to be completed by Anna and Ben. They need for this 1124÷12=1112\dfrac{11}{24} \div \dfrac{1}{2} = \dfrac{11}{12} days for a total of 2312\dfrac{23}{12} days. The answer is (C).
