Problem 9 of 16

In the quadrilateral ABCDABCD, ABAB is parallel to DCDC, DC=2ABDC = 2AB, ∠ADC=30∘\angle ADC = 30^\circ and ∠BCD=50∘\angle BCD = 50^\circ. Let MM be the midpoint of CDCD. The measure of ∠AMB\angle AMB is

Solution

Since AB=DMAB = DM and ABAB is parallel to DMDM, ABMDABMD is a parallelogram. Similarly, ABCMABCM is a parallelogram. Therefore, ∠AMD=∠BCD=50∘\angle AMD = \angle BCD = 50^\circ and ∠BMC=∠ADC=30∘\angle BMC = \angle ADC = 30^\circ. Therefore, ∠AMB=180∘−∠AMD−∠BMC=180∘−50∘−30∘=100∘\angle AMB = 180^\circ - \angle AMD - \angle BMC = 180^\circ - 50^\circ - 30^\circ = 100^\circ. The answer is (C).
